2019 IPL Batting Stats
Market Total Average per game
Runs 2380 148
Sixes 115 7
Fours 230 14
Centuries 0 0
Fifties 11 0.68

Although they were the overall winners the Indians stats are not that spectacular for the winners. They played well in many games and got the wins when they needed too. This included the 1 run win in the final. When compared CSKs 2019 IPL stats you can see there really wasn’t much in it and we are expecting that rivalry to continue in the IPL 2020.

The net run rate of 0.421 in the group stages was the second-highest, behind the Sunrisers Hyderabad who qualified 4th with a very impressive +0.577 in the group stages after a couple of big wins.

Top Batsman (Highest innings score – all played 16 innings)

  1. Quinton De Kock 529
  2. Suryakumar Yadav 424
  3. Rohit Sharma 405
  4. Hardik Pandya 402
  5. Kieron Pollard 279

De Kock was one of the standout players for the Indians and posted an impressive 4 half-centuries. Despite having four players on over 400 tournament runs they failed to get a single century in the tournament. The highest score came from Pandya who hit a 91 followed by Pollard who got an 83.

Top Batsman – Strike rate (minimum  100 runs scored)

  1. Hardik Pandya 191
  2. Keiron Pollard 156
  3. Quinton de Kock 132
  4. Suryakumar Yadav 130
  5. Rohit Sharma 128

The top batting attack here has a good mix of solid players like Sharma and Yadav and big hitters like Pandya. This has served Mumbai well in this tournament with some excellent batting performances.

Most sixes

  1. Hardik Pandya 29
  2. Quinton de Kock 25
  3. Kieron Pollard 22
  4. Rohit Sharma 10
  5. Suryakumar Yadav 10

As you can see the top run-scorers don’t always hit the most sixes. This is the case with the solid Rohit Sharma, but de Kock still hits a lot of sixes in his innings. Sharma will still be at short odds because of his name but players like Pollard can offer some great odds from our experience.

2020 Preview

The Mumbai Indians look a worthy favourite in this years IPL and they could take back to back titles for the first time in history.

The winning squad was already strong and they have bought well, in our opinion. Nathan Coulter-Nile catches the eye as the big money buy but we were more impressed with the signing of Australian Chris Lynn for 2 crores. If you look at his Big Bash stats for 2019 you can see why.

In 14 innings he averaged 30 runs and hit 23 sixes. He picked up 2 players of the match trophies and finished with a strike rate of almost 150. He was a dynamic explosive player to watch and this could be his year in the IPL.

All in all, we would be more surprised to see the Mumbai Indians NOT make final than to make it.
