As mentioned above the Strikers are undefeated so far in this year’s Big Bash and the bookies have them as the favourites to win again in this match. Based on their recent performances it is easy to see why.
They have been as good with the bat as they have been with the ball. In their first completed match, they smashed 198/4 from just 18 overs, winning by 15 runs on the D/L method. In the next game, they hit 174/4 batting first and then won by 5 runs against the Melbourne Stars.
The most recent game they also batted first hitting 155/6 fro their 20. They then held the Renegades to just 137/8 to win by 18 runs. This was done taking out the middle order in explosive fashion. The Renegades went from a strong position of 87/2 to 89/5 with Rashid Khan taking one of the wickets and then getting a run out too.
What is interesting is that they haven’t had to chase a total yet. It will be interesting to see how they get on when they do.
I actually think Sydney Thunder are unlucky to be sitting in 5th and should be further up the table apart. They have had no result in the first game against the Strikers when they were in a good position. They had got to 40/1 from 4.2 overs chasing 161/5, so they would have had a good chance there.
In their last match, they hit 149/8 after losing a couple of early wickets against the Sixers. This game went to a super over which the Thunder lost by just 1 run hitting 15 from the over chasing 16.

This market has been missing for a few matches and is now back with some great odds. We’ve selected these two players for this match based on their Big Bash stats so far. Both have hit a six in 2 of the 3 full matches they have played and at these odds, we can’t turn them down again.
At level stakes, we will break even on Alex Hales hitting a six but not Khawaja. We would make a small profit if Kawaja hit one and Hales didn’t and we’d get more than double our money if they both hit a six. We’re always happy with a good strategy for this kind of bet. Tip 3 – Man of the Match market – Carey 9/1, Hales 10/1, Morris 14/1.
These are all players who can perform on their day. Carey has one man of the match so far and the batting wicket-keeper is good value at 9/1. He’s recently been sold to the Delhi Capitals in the IPL for 2.4 Crone and will be full of confidence. He’s demonstrated what he is capable of with the bat already and could play big innings if needed.
Hales has been up and down with the bat but is capable of a big score for the team. All-rounders are always a good shout for Man of the Match and Morris could be a key player if the Thunder win.
