Sunrisers Hyderabad v Rajasthan Royals 29/3/22: Match Preview And Prediction

Match: Sunrisers Hyderabad v Rajasthan Royals

Date: 28th Match 2022

Stadium: Cricket Association Mumbai.

Trends & Recent Form

The teams predicted to be the bottom two go head to head in the first match and both will be looking to start with a win. For the third year in a row, Sunrisers are the favourites to finish bottom of the group.

In the build up the the mega auction they let superstar Rashid Khan go and have not done enough to challenge in the 2022 IPL.

Sunrisers Hyderabad form

Last year’s record:
  • Played: 14
  • Won: 3
  • Lost: 11
  • Net Run Rate: 0.545
Latest stats and trends
  • SRH will be hoping to forget last season and start fresh. They were very poor winning just 3 matches across both halves of the tournament. They have made major changes at the mega auction in an attempt to rebuild.
  • In the betting, Kane Williamson is the favourite to be the top batter. If fireworks are needed then Nichola Pooran at odds of around 9/2* with some betting sites looks to be a good value selection – possibly one for the Dream 11 too.
  • Kumar is the favourite to be the top bowler. The Sunriser’s bowling lineup does not fill us with much confidence and we think they will struggle this season. They look like they will concede a lot of runs.

Rajasthan Royals form

Last year’s record:
  • Played: 14
  • Won: 5
  • Lost: 9
  • Net Run Rate: -0.993
Latest stats and trends
  • In IPL 2021 the Royals had the worst net run rate of any team. We do think they were unfortunate though as they lost both Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer for the tournament. This had a big impact on the team and the Cricketics team all agree they would have done better with them in the side.
  • The Royals have done well with their changes and could be the dark horse of the tournament. Jos Buttler and Sanju Sampson will add some serious quality to their line up and Rassie Van Der Dussen is an excellent performer in the twilight of his career.
  • With the ball, Chalal and Boult could cause some damage on the quick Mumbai wickets, backed up by Coulter-Nile and others.
  • The Rajasthan Royals have a very good starting 11, they may lack a little in-depth but that will not be an issue early on in the tournament.

Match Prediction & Tips

This is not a tricky match to call when looking at the two teams on paper. We think the Royals have far too much for the Sunrisers and will win comfortably.

Match Prediction: Rajasthan Royals to win at 8/11*
