Sunrisers v Super Kings Betting Tips & Odds [13-10-20]

We are now, sadly, over halfway through this year’s IPL and the pressure is building on teams now to make sure they qualify for the knockout stages. The Sunrisers are well placed in 5th and could do with a win here to avoid a gap opening between them and 4th placed Royal Challengers.

A loss for CSK here will leave them languishing at least four points from 5th with a lesser run rate. We expected a lot more from CSK this year but after their opening win, they have failed to deliver over and over again.

In our preview, we will find 3 top bets for the match and look at the recent stats and form of each team.

SRH v CSK Betting Tips

With almost half, the games played we are now seeing more stats and trends

Tip 1 – Sunrisers to win the match 1/1

This looks like great odds for the team in better form to win. We would have expected to see the teams at the opposite price with the Sunrisers as slight favorites.

The Sunrisers started slowly with back to back defeats and some seemed to be writing them off at this point. They then stepped it up with a very good win over the in-form Dehli Capitals by 15 runs.  In that game, they posted a reasonable 162/5 batting first and managed to keep the capitals to 147/7 in reply. A steady run of wickets stopped DC from building a score in that game.

The next game we the reverse of this fixture and the Sunrisers beat the Super Kings by 7 runs. They batted first and posted 164/5 from their 20 overs. Warner and Panday posted 28 & 29 respectively but the middle order of Gard and Sharma with 51 & 31 helped to really boost the score in the later stages of the match.

The Super Kings did not start well in their batting with Watson, Rayudu, and Jadav all posting single-figure scores. Captain MS Dhoni, 47, and Jadeja, 50, made the score a lot closer but even with Sam Currans 15 off 5 balls it still was not quite enough to get the win.

After that, the Sunrisers lost to the Indians and then beat the lowly KXIP by 69 runs. Last match out they lost to the Royals with 1 ball remaining. This was again going well but another epic performance by Rahul Tewatia with 45 from 28 balls backed up by Riyan Parag’s 42 from 26 just got the Royals over the line.

The Super Kings have been in dire form with just two wins from seven matches so far. Anyone who has bet on the to qualify for the knockout stages will now be getting worried, along with the people who have backed them to win!

If we take out the win against KXIP, whose bowling was terrible, their losses have been emphatic recently. Sometimes when teams lose we look a the results and think they may have been unlucky if it’s a close game. CSK’s recent losses read like this

  • Lost by 37 runs
  • Lost by 10 runs
  • Lost by 7 runs
  • Lost by 44 runs
  • Lost by 16 runs

In four of their least five defeats they have failed to get past 157 runs. All of these games were winnable if they had managed to post a decent score. This is what has disappointed us the most.

Tip 2 – Thakur (CSK) & Rashid Kahn to take a wicket each 10/11

This looks like a great price for two top bowlers in the IPL. For this bet to win we need each bowler to at least one wicket, it does not matter if they get more.

Current stats

  • Thakur – 7 wickets in 4 matches
  • Khan – 10 wickets in 7 matches

Both bowlers average over 1 wicket per match.

Tip 3 – Total runs in the match – under 325.5 4/5

As mentioned in the form preview above CSK has been struggling with the runs at the moment and gets an average of around 140 runs. SRH has been winning without posting massive scores and usually is around the 160 marks if they bat first. Strangely we are yet to see CSK bat first in seven matches.
