Tuesday sees the Rajasthan Royals start their IPL campaign. The Royals are currently the joint-favourites to finish bottom of the league at 7/2 along with KXIP and RCB. Chennai Super Kings are currently the second-favourites to win the tournament so on paper this would be a simple win for the Super Kings.
We’ll look over what the Royals need to do to get a win here and we also have some value betting tips for you on this match. We cover betting tips on all T20 cricket and Indian cricket.

Latest Odds & Form
To win the match odds*
- Rajasthan Royals 10/11
- Chennai Super Kings 10/11
This one is so close the bookmakers cannot call the winner. Both teams are at the same odds and there is currently no favourite in this match. We would expect the odds to stay the same until the game starts now. This is the tightest game of the IPL so far in terms of odds. We will look through the different markets to try and find some value for our tips.
Rajasthan Royals form
Last season the Royals did not have the best time, finishing joint bottom on points. Only their slightly better run rate meant that they finished 7th rather than 8th. They started the season very badly winning just one of their first six fixtures, a 7 wicket (1 ball) win over the Royal Challengers.
The strangest thing last season was a win in both games against eventual winners the Mumbai Indians. They also never won when batting first. All five wins came chasing scores including chasing an impressive 188 against the Mumbai Indians in match 27 of the 2019 IPL.
When I look at the Royals squad I expect a better performance from them! Now quarantine is only 36 hours (Source) you’ll have a team containing Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes, and Steve Smith – These guys are all capable of match-winning performances and I have to think they’ll do better than 7th this year. Here they are arriving in Dubai
Head to head
Here are the scores from last season
31/3/19
CSK 175/5 (20)
RR 167/8 (20)
CSK win by 8 runs
11/4/19
RR 151/7 (20)
CSK 155/6 (20)
CSK win by 4 wickets (0 balls remaining)
As you can see above both games were close and the second game was won on the last ball. I am left with the feeling that the Royals just need a little more in terms of performance and experience to nudge these close losses into wins.
CSK form
The Super Kings opened their IPL account with a good win over last year’s winners, Mumbai Indians. We were very impressed with this as they had a solid performance throughout the team. The bowlers all took a wicket each and did well to keep the pressure on when they needed it.
Chawla was the most economical going for just 21 runs from his four overs, taking one wicket. Lungi Ngidi was the top bowler with three wickets from four overs, although slightly more expensive at 38 runs.
Things started disastrously with the bet with Vijay and Watson going for 1 & 4 respectively. Then came a fantastic partnership between Faf and Rayudu. Rayudu smashed 71 from 48 balls to set the Super Kings away to the win. Faf held his bat to finish on 58 not out from 44 balls. After taking three catches in the field he was unlucky not to be given the man of the match award.

Betting Tips
Tip 1 – bet365 – du Plessis to hit over 0.5 sixes 11/10
Although he did not hit a six in his previous innings he was in fine form with the bat. due t the position the Super Kings were in he had to play a much more measured game. Two early wickets had gone and he stepped up to steady the ship but still keep the run rate going with Rayudu played the more explosive game at the other end.
He hit boundaries in total. If the opens do a better job against the Royals then he can play a much more aggressive inning. Odds on for a play of his quality to clear the ropes are too good to miss.

Tip 2 – Betway – #Betyourway – Curran to take a wicket and score over 10 runs
Curren had a decent game as an all-rounder against the Indians and we are looking for him to take that form forward here.
Tip 3 – Betway – #Betyourway – Archer, Ngidi & Tahir to take a wicket 10/11
For this bet, we need to wait to see who is playing as Tahir was left out of the last Super Kings match. If all three play this looks good odds for them to all take at least one wicket each.
