With one win under their belts, it is no surprise to see the Challengers at the shortest odds. They are higher up the betting for the overall tournament and performed better in the first game. These odds seem right o us for this game.

Kings XI Punjab form

They kicked off their IPL campaign with a poor loss from the super over but it was not all bad news for them. They started the match bowling and took some key early wickets and at one point had Dehli Capitals at 13/3. At this point, I was expecting them to kick on and keep the score down. Iyer & Pant started to build a steady score when they got in and moved the score on to 86/4 when the next wicket fell.

Then in came Aussie Marus Stoinis who’d clearly decided he was going to get some runs on the board. He smashed 53 from 21 balls including 7 fours and 3 sixes and was the last player out with 2 balls remaining.

With the bat, the Kings XI failed to inspire. KL Rahul knocked 21 and Agarwal top-scored with 89 but apart from that, it was a poor show with a number of players out in the single digits. The most disappointing for us was Glenn Maxwell who we thought could hit a big knock like his countryman, Stonis. He was out for 1 and at that point, the writing looked on the wall.

With one run needed from the last 2 balls, KXIP managed to lose a wicket on each sending the game to a super over. With wickets were taken KXIP were all out at 2/2. It did not take the Capitals long to get the 3 runs required!

Royal Challengers Bangalore form

RCB kicked off their campaign with a comfortable win over SRH. The Challengers batted first and got of to a solid start with opener Padikkal getting a half-century and Finch knocking 29. Kohli then came in with a 14 of 13 before being caught by Rashid Khan.

Then stepped up AB de Villiers. His experience told and he smashed 51 from 30 to move the score up to 165 from the 0 overs. This did not seem a massive score on paper.

In came the bowlers with a job on their hands. It was a fantastic performance after it looked like SRH would run away with it. Warner was out early on for 6 but Bairstow was in fine nick with the bat getting 61 from 43 balls. Manish Pandey looked like he would offer some support with 34 until he became Chahal’s second wicket of the match.

After that SRH was a massive disappointment. They finished the match with 8 players failing to get into double figures and 3 players getting a duck.

Top team batsman odds*

Who will be the top batsman for the team?

KXIP Batsmen latest odds

  • KL Rahul 13/8
  • C Gayle 9/4
  • M Agarwal 13/5
  • M Singh 7/2
  • K Nair 4/1
  • N Pooran 11/2
  • G Maxwell 13/2
  • Others 15/2+

KL & Gayle will always lead the betting for this market. They play high up the order and are players of the highest quality. The odds will vary on most betting sites for the players further down the list – this is where we can find some more value in our betting tips for this match.

RCB top batsman odds

  • V Kohli 2/1
  • A Finch 13/5
  • AB 11/4
  • D Padikkal 4/1
  • P Patel 9/2
  • M Ali 5/1
  • J Phillipe 15/2
  • Other 9/1+

As usual, there is no value in backing Kohli at these prices. Finch & AB played well in the first game and look a bit short here too. Padikkal really caught our eye in the first game and looks a good price at 4/1.

Betting Tips

KXIP v RCB betting tips

Tip 1 – bet365 – A Finch over 0.5 Sixes 4/5

He hit 2 sixes in the first match and is a player with good form in T20 cricket, this looks good value for this match.

Tip 2 – Betway – Devdutt Padikkal top RCB batsman 4/1

What a star Devdutt looks set to be. Top scorer in the first match and will open the batting again for RCB. His odds represent much better value than the players above him in the betting.

Tip 3 – Betway – Glenn Maxwell top KXIP batsman 13/2

For our final tip, I am looking for some longer odds and some more value. Maxwell did not have a great first game but we have seen over time what a fantastic player he is. If he gets the chance to hit out with the bat 13/2 odds look good.
