The batting order has a great mix with the experience of Dhawan as an opener combined with the explosive middle-order including all-rounder Marcus Stoinis. Last time out they almost rolled over for the Mumbai Indians, all out for 136 chasing 195. Jos Buttler, 70, got over half the teams runs but another batsman could stay in with him. Samson, who had been in great form, was out for a duck and when Buttler went it was clear the match was all over.
Before that was a loss to the Royal Challengers where the Royals batted first but only post 154/6. RCB chased that down with five balls to spare, but it never really looked in doubt that they would make it. Again Samson disappointed with just four runs, along with opener Steve Smith who clocked up just 5 runs before being bowled out. It was the middle and lower order who made the score more respectable with Lomror – 47, Tewatia -24 and Archer – 16 who managed to get some late runs on the board.
With this form, we cannot back the Royals to win and if they bat like this it could be a stroll to victory for the Capitals.
