Royal Challengers v Mumbai Indians Tips & Odds

Monday sees a great looking game in the IPL. Both teams have played in two games with one win each. The Indians sit higher up the table by their considerably higher net run rate. This looks set to be a really interesting battle of cricket with some star names on show. Can the Indian’s show why they are the favourites to win the IPL2020 or will the Royal Challengers get a confidence-boosting win?

Latest Odds & Form

To win the match odds*

  • RC Bangalore 11/10
  • Mumbai Indians 8/11

These odds are exactly as we expected, the Indian’s are almost always the favourite in an IPL match.

Royal Challengers Bangalore form

RCB have got off to a very odd start to this tournament with one very good win and one terrible loss!

They started well against the Sunrisers with a win by 10 runs. Devdutt Padikkal had a great game with 56 off 43 and looks a potential star in the making. Finch supported well and AB got a half-century. RCB clocked up a total of 163/5, not massive but a good score.

With the ball, the Challengers excelled. The last 7 batsmen in were dismissed for a combined total of 25 runs. Chahal showed his quality with 3/18 and was well backed up by Saini 2/25 and Dube 2/15 (from 3). The Sunrisers ended up all out for 153 with 2 balls remaining.

The next game was so so bad from RCB, we were disappointed by this performance. KXIP won by 97 runs.

In this game, we saw KXIP bat first and KL Rahul put on the highest score by an Indian in the IPL! He was in excellent form and the opener finished on 132 not out from 96 balls – a 191.3 S/R incredible numbers. For RCB Yadav, Steyn and Dube all finished with economy figures of over 10 runs an over. To his credit, Dube did take two wickets from his three overs. Chahal was his usual tidy self and finished with 1/25 from his four.

With the bat, RCB failed to impress. Padikkal, Phillippe, Kohli, Yadav, Steyn and Chahal managed FOUR runs between them – very poor. AB & Sundar offered some resistance with 28 and 30 respectively, but as soon as their wickets went it was clear it was all over.

Top batsman so far – AB de Villers 79

Top bowler so far – Yuzvendra Chahal 4

Mumbai Indians form

In their first game, Mumbai started poorly with a defeat to the Chennai Super Kings. They posted 162/9 from 20 overs. Tiwary was the top scorer in the game with 43 runs and supported by de Kock with 33. No one put on a score.

The Super Kings started poorly with t2o early wickets. The Indian’s bowlers failed to really get a grip on the run chase and only managed one wicket each as the Super Kings finished on 166/5 with four balls to spare.

The second game was much more like the Mumbai Indians team we expect to see. Batting first they clocked up 195/5 with Rohit Sharma smashing 80 from 54 balls. The bowling from KKR was poor as they kept pitching it up short which is how he likes it. All in all, it was an excellent batting performance, albeit against a poor bowling one.

With the ball, the Indians again improved from the first game. Four of their bowlers took two wickets each as the Knight Riders never really got into the game. They finished with 146/9 to lose by 49 runs.

Top batsman so far – Rohit Sharma 92 runs

Top bowler so far – James Pattinson 3 wickets

Who will be the top batsman for the team?

RCB Batsmen latest odds

  • V Kohli 9/4
  • AB 11/4
  • A Finch 3/1
  • D Padikkal 10/3
  • P Patel 9/2
  • J Phillipe 9/2

There is no disputing what a top batsman Virat Kohli, our hero, is. But he has 15 runs in two matches and is at 9/4 odds. Terrible value! None of these odds grabs our attention.

MI top batsman odds

  • de Kock 11/4
  • R Sharma 11/4
  • C Lynn 4/1
  • S Yadav 4/1
  • I Kishan 5/1
  • A Tare 11/2
  • K Pollard 13/2

These odds are a little more interesting for us. The great Rohit Sharma at 11/4 on the back on an 80 last match catches the eye.

Latest odds*

  • A Finch 4/6
  • V Kohli 4/6
  • de Kock 4/6
  • R Sharma 5/6

This is again an interesting market, Finch is content with sixes and Sharma looks good odds at 5/6 for a player of his quality.

Betting Tips

RCB v MI betting tips

Tip 1 – bet365 – Over 0.5 Sixes Finch 4/6 & Sharma 5/6

Rohit Sharma has 6 sixes so far this tournament, Finch has hot one in each of the two games so far.

Tip 2 – Betway – RCB most match sixes 11/10

Despite their poor performance last time they have some serious firepower and when we compare the two teams RCB have the edge in this one, in our opinion.

Tip 3 – Bet365 – Rharam to get more runs than Kohli 11/10

This is a market that has recently caught my eye and these odds are fantastic. The current runs for the tournament are Sharma 92 – Kohli 15. This bet is purely on this game but its a player in Shram in good form against a player in Kohli who knows the pressure is on!
